high school

Artist Portraits, circa 1996

My 30 year high school class reunion is later this year. I don’t know how that’s even possible, because I’m sure the 90s were only like 10 years ago, right?

Anyway, a friend from high school shared some photos on Instagram this month from her senior year photography portfolio. I had completely forgotten that she did some portraits of me that year for her portfolio. I had just been busy painting!

I remember feeling awkward as hell, not sure how to pose or what to do with the brushes and palette I brought with me. I am wearing the men’s button-down shirt I used to wear for a smock. Also pretty sure I’m wearing what was my high school standard: baggy jeans, a random t-shirt, and Converse low-top sneakers.

In all honesty, I still need a photographer to tell me how to pose.

Gianna's Graduation Announcement

Gianna's Graduation Announcement

I had the honor of doing senior portraits for Gianna last month and then taking a few of those images and making a graduation announcement for her mom to send to: “everyone who’s ever known me.” <— Gianna’s words.

Notre Dame Irish Knight Band T-shirt

A few years ago, I created a t-shirt for the marching band from Notre Dame High School in Northridge, CA. A friend of mine, Linsdey and her husband, Chris both attended this high school and were still involved with their marching band. They were traveling to Dublin, Ireland for a school trip and wanted a t-shirt to commemorate.

I researched different Irish and Celtic designs to come up with the finished product. I wasn't able to get one of the actual shirts to photograph, so I made this mockup.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, especially with the design going over the shoulder.

I hope the trip was amazing! Thanks!
