I'm Alex, work-at-home-mom to my rambunctious boys (born Oct 2009 and Apr 2014). My husband and I are both natives of the San Francisco Bay Area and current residents of Salt Lake City, Utah. I love to travel, I love art and history, hiking, soccer, cooking, getting lost in a great book, I’m foodie who loves to cook (and sometimes share photos of what I cook), and a dabbler in photography and crafty stuff. I started practicing taekwondo the year I turned 40 and got back into camping after a very long hiatus.
When I was in first grade, I won an art contest at school and my drawing was put on display at our local shopping mall. I still remember the pride I felt seeing my drawing professionally matted and I believe that was the start of my interest in all things art. Throughout middle school and high school I took as many art classes as I could, even if it meant sacrificing a math class. Because of my involvement in Girl Scouting, I donated my talents and time to my local Girl Scout council and designed dozens of event patches over the course of six years. I even worked as a picture framer while I was in college.
I’m a graduate of the Academy of Art University, School of Illustration, and after college I picked up work illustrating a couple of children’s books. While planning my wedding, I helped a handful of brides I met online with designing a map to go with their wedding invitations. Word spread through our wedding planning forum and I found myself with orders for custom invitations, maps, programs, and thank you cards.
Since then my husband and I had a couple of kids, we moved two states, and I have thoroughly enjoyed designing whatever I can for my clients.
I'm highly experienced with vector illustration: whether it's creating graphics from scratch, or manipulating existing graphics and text. I have created invitations for weddings, birthdays, showers, and more, wine labels, birth announcements, product manuals, apparel mockups and graphics, I really love working on a big variety of projects, so if you are in need of something you haven’t seen on my website, just ask and we can talk about what I can do to accommodate your needs.
Thanks to many of these clients referring my work to others, I've been able to contract with a handful of really wonderful companies and organizations. A few include Hike it Baby, AMYS Martial Arts, Líllébaby, Family Forest Fest, Jayne of All, and Girl Scouts of Northern California.
