I'm Alex, work-at-home-mom to my rambunctious boys (born Oct 2009 and Apr 2014). My husband and I are San Francisco Bay Area natives who turned unto Utahns. I love to travel, I love art and history, hiking, soccer, cooking, and getting completely lost in a great book. I’m also a foodie who loves to cook (and share photos of my meals), and I’m a dabbler in photography and crafty stuff. The year I turned 40, I started practicing taekwondo and got back into camping after a decades-long hiatus.
In first grade, I won an art contest and my drawing was on display at our shopping mall. I still remember the pride I felt seeing my drawing professionally matted and I believe that was the start of my interest in all things art. Throughout middle school and high school I took ALL of the art classes, some even multiple times. As a Lifetime Girl Scout, I donated my talents and time to my Girl Scout council and designed event patches during high school and college.
I’m a graduate of the Academy of Art University, School of Illustration, and after college I picked up work illustrating a couple of children’s books. While planning my wedding, I helped a few brides I met online with designing a map for their wedding invitations. Word spread through our planning forum and I suddenly had orders for invitations, maps, programs, and more. Online relationships with these women grew and when we all began starting families, I was honored to be asked to create baby shower invitations, birth announcements, birthday invitations and more.
Through different referrals, I can trace most of my long-time clients back to a woman from that wedding planning forum. Sharing my info with a friend or colleague is the best compliment I can receive and it’s so appreciated.
I'm highly experienced with vector illustration; whether it's creating graphics from scratch, or manipulating existing graphics and text. I can do business branding, event invitations, birth announcements, product manuals, apparel mockups and graphics, and social media graphics. I create custom artwork using watercolor and pen and ink where needed. I also have some experience with photo editing in Photoshop. I am always in the market to contract with businesses, whether it’s a short-term job, or an ongoing contract. I've been able to contract with some really great companies and organizations. A few include Hike it Baby, AMYS Martial Arts, Líllébaby, Family Forest Fest, Jayne of All, and Girl Scouts of Northern California.
